چکیده
What is the impact of gender pay gap in academia over course a career and retirement? To quantify this impact, we used Canadian post-secondary institution as case study simulated effects reported difference salary across multiple academic trajectories. A starting wage less than $9,000 resulted $300,000–$400,000 career, further $148,000–$259,000 pension gap, for total $454,000–$660,000, depending on rank achieved. Thus, focusing gaps alone leads to substantial underestimation long-term gap.

Is There a Gap in the Gap? Regional Differences in the Gender Pay Gap
In this paper, we investigate regional differences in the gender pay gap both theoretically and empirically. Within a spatial oligopsony model, we show that more densely populated labour markets are more competitive and constrain employers’ ability to discriminate against women. Utilising a large administrative data set for western Germany and a flexible semi-parametric propensity score matchin...

The Gender Wage Gap in Four Countries In a series of studies written during the 1980s Bob Gregory and his co-authors compared the gender wage gap in Australia with that found in other countries. They found it was not the difference in human capital endowments that explained different gender wage gaps but rather the rewards for these endowments. They concluded that country-specific factors, espe...

Usual estimates of the female-male wage gap may be biased because female selection could be different in different parts of the labor market. This paper proposes an estimator for the wage gap in models with unobserved heterogeneity in the selection rule. It applies to the subpopulation of “always employed” women, which is similar to men in labor force attachment. Using CPS data from 1976 to 200...

Using longitudinal data on the hourly wages of Portuguese workers matched with income statement i...
